In a world overpopulated with nth rate punditry (i.e. bad faith public intellectuals) I am of the view that one of the very few who rises above the crowd is Nassim Nicholas Taleb. He is truly independent-minded, not in any ideological or financial pocket, has theoretic/practical credibility and is the most cultivated of men. He cuts so much deeper in his analyses of what’s going on and doesn’t pull his punches. He punctures a raft of self-serving smug echo chambers — long may this continue. Check out the two books of his that I have read — The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable and Antifragile: Things That Gain from Disorder.
